Iron Cobra

The Tama Iron Cobra is one of the most sought after pedals by metal drummers. You can find a full list of endorsers on Tama's official website. A few notable metal drummers that use Cobras include Daniel Svensson (In Flames), Blake Richardson (Between The Buried and Me), and Jason Bittner (Shadows Fall). This high end Tama pedal is available in three different glide systems, the Power, Rolling, and Flexi Glide. I'll cover each of them below and then, when you're ready, you can purchase your own Tama Iron Cobra pedal.

The Power Glide bass drum pedal option uses an off-set cam. These drum pedals are great for those drummers looking for power and speed that is easy to control and keep steady. When the beater nears the end of the stroke, the offset cams increases the speed and power of each hit.

The Rolling Glide cam is your basic round design cam and offers a smooth uniform response found in most rounded cams.

The Flexi Glide system features a Kevlar strap instead of the standard single or dual chain drive system. This offers a kind of floating sensation to the drum pedal footboard and today's Kevlar is much more durable than the nylon straps used long ago.

While these pedals are most often associated with metal drumming, many drummers also prefer the smooth feel of the Cobra footboard found on hi hat stands. These same drive systems are available on the Hi Hats from Tama Drum Hardware.
