Drum Sticks Tricks

Some of the following drum sticks tricks may not be practical for live playing, but they can help to develop hand eye coordination and strengthen your sense of rhythm. Lessons on how to spin drum sticks are here.

This first video shows you how to juggle from hand to hand by flipping the butt end and passing from right to left.

Playing a beat with style.

Video shows how you can liven up some basic rudiments by using both the tip and butt ends.

Forgive me for this video, but I found it absolutely hilarious. After watching about twenty or more "serious" videos of people showing off their spins and flips, this guy pops up and has me laughing out loud.

I think stick tricks are cool and all, but I feel like if you have time to show off by spinning and twirling your sticks while you're playing live, you should probably put that extra effort into playing something more technical. Of course, if you're in a cover band, these techniques can liven up a drum routine that is usually quite bland.
