Drum Rudiment







The Flam Drag is a hybrid drum rudiment that consists of a couple different parts. It may be easiest to think of this rudiment as an Eighth Note Triplet which double strokes the second note. The sticking pattern as shown above is RLLR or LRRL with a flam on the first note. Before you tackle this rudiment, be sure to check out the free drum lessons covering the Flam and the Drag.

The three exercises below are designed to gradually increase the speed at which you play this particular rudiment. The first one spreads out the sticking pattern over Eighth notes, the second involves Sixteenth and the last one Thirty-Seconds. Just be sure to play them all using the same tempo.
